Reviews Summary

Bahla Fort is a significant historical site with impressive architecture, offering a unique labyrinthine exploration. Visitors appreciate the panoramic views and the cultural context provided by the nearby mosque. However, the presence of bats inside the fort is a notable feature that some find detracts from the experience, and the opening hours of surrounding shops can be unpredictable.

"Fort Bahla is less a historical treasure and more a luxury high-rise for bats. Step inside and you’re greeted by… nothing. Well, nothing except the constant flutter of wings overhead and a few sad museum glass cases — all empty, like someone stole the exhibits during the Bronze Age. I briefly got excited about a “museum of doors,” but no, not Jim Morrison, not even a funky carpenter’s passion project — just a few dull doors looking like they’d been rescued from a skip. The only real reward is the view from the top, which is nice, though you’ll probably enjoy it while a bat swoops past your head in casual ownership of the place."

"Bahla Fort is a World Heritage site. It is an example of a fortified oasis settlement of the medieval Islamic period. Is situated at the foot of the Jebel Akhdar Highlands in Oman. Fort was built with bricks mase of mud and straw. The current Fort was built in the 17 century. The interior resembles a labitynth. There is a small Caffè in the courtyard and a Kmkan restaurant nearby. A Friday Mosque is a part of the Fort. I highly recommend visiting this place."
