"A truly wonderful museum about the “Jutters” – the beachcombers – and their fascinating finds on and around Texel.
The exhibition includes thousands of objects that have washed up on Texel’s shores, came from shipwrecks, or were recovered from stranded vessels – and much more.
There’s something to discover everywhere, and it’s a great experience for children too.
Several short films are shown throughout the museum, there’s a lovely café, and plenty of other things to explore.
Most of all, the staff is incredibly friendly – we had such a lovely afternoon. Thank you! 🌊✨"

"Maritime and Beachcomber Museum Flora has a diversity of beach finds dating back more than 80 years. Impressive, amazing, exciting, captivating, sometimes funny, sometimes witnessing great human suffering and carelessness as far as our living environment is concerned. Everything is displayed with love and attention to detail.
Discover the maritime past and present of beachcombers, shipwrecks and Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution, among others. In the various atmospheric indoor areas, various films are shown continuously alongside the exhibitions. There is a nice museum café (also tables outside, try the Jutterskoek!) and a souvenir shop which sells small works of art made with beach finds among many other things.
For children, there are treasure hunts, games and an extensive playground outside. In the outdoor area, shipwrecks - including a rescue capsule that may be entered - and other large wrecks and wreckage are displayed. Explanations on signs in Dutch and German. Definitely worth a visit!"
