What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Sarphatipark is cherished by locals for its peaceful ambiance and beautiful green spaces, offering a serene escape within the vibrant De Pijp district. While it lacks typical tourist attractions, its charm lies in its authenticity and suitability for relaxation and picnics. Some visitors might find it too quiet if they're expecting more active entertainment.
"Lovely park, if you have a dog or kids it's perfect for this, there are playgrounds and the feeling is that of a family park lovely to reside in, also the exchange of seeds and plants where some kids work as well to sustain a healthy community of flora and fauna, a good conversation is also in the cards if you sit here enjoying the calm oasis in the busy city life. If you like working out there is a huge area to do so and the community seems active as well. Also the possibility to play some ping pong 🏓 and make new friends, the coffee is especially good and this new startup uses fairttrade beans and the some of the customers make their homemade sirop to enjoy."

The Charm of De Pijp
Historically, De Pijp was developed in the late 19th century to house the growing population of Amsterdam. It was named after a local dialect word for 'pipe,' referring to the narrow streets. The area's transformation over the decades has made it a hub for artists, students, and young professionals, contributing to its lively atmosphere. Visiting Sarphatipark allows you to experience a slice of authentic Amsterdam life away from the main tourist trails.
Picnicking Like a Local
Gathering your picnic supplies from the market and then finding a sunny spot in Sarphatipark is a quintessential Amsterdam experience. It’s a budget-friendly way to enjoy a meal while immersing yourself in the local culture. Many visitors find this far more enjoyable and authentic than eating at a crowded tourist restaurant.
