What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Puskarini Sacred Pond to be a deeply serene and spiritually significant location, especially when visited during cooler months. The historical context of Queen Maya Devi's bath adds to its divine feeling. However, the requirement to walk barefoot on potentially hot ground can be a significant discomfort for many, particularly during warmer seasons.
"Mayadevi temple. It is dedicated to the mother of Lord Buddha. It is the place where Lord Budhha was born. Sacred place divine feeling but avoid visiting the place in hot months. To visit the place you are required to walk barefoot a long distance on hot rocks. Although I have seen security personnel to walk on the premise with shoes or slippers but ordinary souls are not given this privilege. I have seen minor scuffles on where to remove shoes. So it is better to come in winter and fully concentrate your energy on devotion."

"Near the Mayadevi temple stands this sacred ancient bathing pool (known as Puskarni). It is believed that the mother of lord Buddha Maya Devi took a bath in this pool before giving birth to the baby Buddha."

"So peaceful, serene and beautiful. So much to observe and feel. You just get another sense of being in here. The pond, Maya Devi Temple in the backdrop, the ancient remains dating back to the 2nd-3rd century BC, the Ashoka pillar, the Peepal tree (Kalpabriksha) and the colorful patakas all make for a very blissful experience."
