Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Cañada de la Virgen for its historical significance, astronomical insights, and stunning natural setting. The guided tours, especially those led by knowledgeable archaeologists, are highlighted as exceptional experiences. However, some note the lack of shade, the required walking, and the potential language barrier on standard tours.

"This was an amazing trip! I would recommend this to everyone, really a must-see.

Albert Coffee is a great guide, but book in advance. After your tour, you will have an opportunity to buy some street tacos. These are a must at the end."

"Can’t believe I didn’t leave a review from my tour 3 yrs ago! An incredible experience to learn about the brilliant peoples who built this pyramid, directed water to their gardens and apparently were experts of movement of sun, moon and stars. Amazing location in middle of a working ranch with stunning views. Visitors should know a lot of walking is required, no shade and the local guides at the Center speak Spanish. All bags are checked in and left at the arrival Center. Don’t miss the food and crafts vendors near the center. Would love to see the skies above it at night!"

"Amazing place. Not too busy during the week. Fair entrance fee, which included parking, toilets, tour guide and bus shuttle service. Shuttle doesn't go all the way to the site though. The last stretch is walked with the group. There are places to take a short rest and get shade. Walk takes about 20 minutes. Tour itself is another 30-45 minutes. they show you everything and explain the meanings and history. it is one of the last pyramids in Mexico where you are allowed to walk up, so it's a once in a lifetime experience. if it gets busier they will probably stop allowing it. at the entrance there is also a small stand for food and drinks. the lady there makes amazing quesadillas. all self made. all in all an amazing experience. Also very close to San Miguel (20 minute drive) so you can combine both."
