What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Mie Prefectural Museum (MieMu) to be a clean, neat, and valuable destination for understanding the region's natural and cultural history, especially for its affordable price. While the Mie Elephant skeleton and natural dioramas are highlights, the lack of English translations for many exhibits can be a drawback for international visitors.
"Not a gigantic museum, consisted of only 3 floors and a garden at the back. But they are just enough to get to know about this region and have a little walk. Loved the atmosphere, clean and neat. There are also some community spaces available to everyone, so it would be good to bring kids around and have a lazy easygoing weekend.
But one star off as most of the exhibitions don’t offer English or any other language.
so foreigners could have a little difficulty getting to know deeply about the region."

"It's a nice place to learn about the history, geography and cultural aspects of Mie. The highlight is of course the Mie elephant skeleton located on the 3rd floor. It has a small reading area with books. The main exhibition hall has an audio guide where you can choose between 6 languages - they'll give you a QR code, scan it and on the webpage choose the language and play the appropriate audio file. That webpage was kind of laggy but still manageable. There is a small souvenir shop and a garden through which you can exit."
