Reviews Summary

Visitors generally find Mikimoto Pearl Island to be an educational and interesting destination, particularly appreciating the museum's detailed exhibits on pearl cultivation and the captivating Ama diver demonstrations. While some find the experience a bit dated, the historical significance and the beauty of the pearl art are consistently praised. The island's serene gardens offer a pleasant contrast to the educational focus.

"The museum is big, quite a number of things to see. There’s also an Ama demonstration where they will dive to retrieve oysters. Quite an interesting experience. There’s also a restaurant and Japanese garden."

Eddy Lin

"I actually really enjoyed visiting this place. I paired it with the next door Toba aquarium, so there is a couple hundred yen discount. One of the big pluses is that there is a lot of English translated information, so you never feel like you don't know what's going on. I didn't have any interest in pearl history, but it was fascinating to learn that this was the birth place of the modern day pearl farming system. If you're down by ise, I highly recommend you stop by. About 2 hours to get through the museum and the founder's memorial building"

Brandon Sato

"Very detailed information about natural pearls, farmed pearls, the history of farmed pearls, and the history if Japanese pearls.

Very beautiful pearl art. But also, they have many different examples of very beautiful pearl jewelery, some quite old.

All on a cool island, in nice buildings."
