What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests praise the family-friendly atmosphere and unique flamingo encounters at Renaissance Aruba, but many find the resorts dated and overpriced, with hidden charges and communication issues. The Okinawa location is noted for its family focus but can feel cramped and lacks the premium feel expected from the brand.
"Excellent service and great for kids, but the hotel is dated and definitely not worth the price they charge when compared to other hotels on the island.
It is very family friendly and offers a lot of activities for kids. They try to be an all in one vacation spot for families, like larger resorts are, but they don’t have the footprint for it. So everything feels very crammed. Convenient if you don’t want to leave the property, yet also not enough to truly feel like you don’t have to leave the property"

"The stay was a let down. We wanted a kid friendly resort since we were vacationing with our kids, but it ended up feeling like Disneyland with kids overcrowding the property.
The property is not walkable to much at all if you get tired of hotel offerings. The food was comparable to the cafeteria on a cruise ship - okay on the first day but tired of the exact same offerings on the subsequent days. It felt like they were trying to extract every penny they could out of you with charges for just about everything. When paying a lot for the nightly rate in the first place, this just didn't sit well.
The shore activities are really all there is to do at the resort and are way overpriced and didn't seem entertaining (ex. being towed around on an inflatable boat by a jet ski for 10 minutes). The beach itself is tiny with a small pool sized area roped in where you can actually swim. The beach area is stacked with beach umbrellas making it almost impossible to even stand up next to your beach chair which they make you also pay for.
Everywhere we went, we felt like we were over governed by the "resort rules" and their "etiquette requests" making it very hard to just relax. The guests rooms were decent but not great which is the only reason why I gave this place 2 stars. Many of the staff barely speak English making it very difficult to clarify any details of the amenities or issues with all the random charges on your final bill. As many reviewers have stated, this property is not representational of the Marriott/Bonvoy brand globally. We left feeling like we were ripped off and exploited for the busy summer vacation rate."

"Basically theft (billing by the chair and umbrella for beach seats, activities are paid per 10 minutes, every piece of equipment is also pay per rent) that is just a really cheap and low class look) also no fun allowed, beach closes at 6, asked to wear life jacket if even touching the water.
Facilities are also fairly dated for a hotel of this price.
I’ve stayed at luxury hotels all over south east Asia and never had such a bad experience. Several better nearby hotels too. Really damaging for the Marriot brand like this"
