What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Ito Orange Beach is praised for its calm, clear, and warm waters, making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling, with unique soft black sand. Visitors appreciate the tranquility, especially outside peak season, and the opportunity to see marine life. However, some note the occasional presence of sharp debris in the sand and the limited natural shade.
"Ito Orange Beach is the best beach we visited in Izu! At high tide it is deep enough to dive under the water, but it’s very calm thanks to the breakwater. The sand is soft and black, though if your feet are sensitive to small pebbles you may want to bring water shoes. If you want to see fish, I recommend coming in the morning and at high tide if possible. I met many kinds of colourful and curious fish near the breakwater, including a small school of cute squid! I did not see any jellyfish.
There are free showers that are well-designed, all functioning as a full shower or as a footwash, and draining sand through a grate onto the beach below. There are toilets and trash cans as well. There are restaurants on the beach with seating, though you can also buy food at the nearby Food Shop Aoki. For a fee, you can rent floaties, access the floating slides, or try a banana boat. There is not much shade, however."

"Just before the beginning of the official summer season (mid July to End of August) there are no amenities, but there are also no crowds. The sand is almost black but very soft, almost like sands in Hawaii. Not gravely at all. The water is crystal clear as well and no waves as it is enclosed in a bay. It is also quite warm and not cold. Only 4 stars as you can find pieces of glass periodically that have not worn down and small pieces of pottery with sharp edges in the sand. Maybe with the clean up before the summer season this is taken care of. Also a McDonalds nearby (10 min walk in the direction of marine town) if that is of interest to you"
