Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Hiroshima Peace Pagoda for its stunning panoramic views of the city and the profound sense of peace it evokes. The hike up is often described as rewarding, with many appreciating the journey through wooded paths and past shrines. While generally well-received, some note the climb can be strenuous, especially in warmer weather.

"Excellent - certainly worth a visit. It is a bit of a walk to the Peace Pagoda on top of the hill; but it is an amazing structure. And the view over Hiroshima is fantastic."

Norm P.

"An amazing shrine with a great view of Hiroshima. If you have a couple of hours (waiting for a train?) then try the walk from the Togoshu shrine- it is beautiful.

I started my walk from the Togoshu Shrine, up through the woods and passed many more hidden shrines. Its quite a big climb (bring water) and gets less and less paved by the top (I think on purpose to make it that little bit more satisfying!) but it was well worth it.

On the way down you can take the paved route and walk through the contemporary Japanese neighborhood, as well as feeling intensely smug about your mini hike.

See photos for the hike conditions when wet."

"A nice hike from hiroshima station. Taking our time and going up the shrine path and down the east side, took about 1.5 hrs"
