"13 Nov 2025, nice drive. But road is close after Attakayu Public Onsen"
Terence Ng
"Went in autumn with a little shower of rain so the roads are a bit slippery. Long winding but scenic, kinda reminds of some of those carved landscapes in spaghetti western movies especially in the area where I think sulfur activity was going on (that rotten egg smell was so overpowering so close your windows). Be careful, seen minor accidents where cars skid off to the ditch (some parts of the roads are narrow and have quite sharp turns)."
Tiziano Vecellio
"The scenery changes depending on the location. The whole drive is truly scenic. There are some spaces on the side of the road to enjoy views. But the mobile network was rarely available. The road was open 8.00 - 17.00. after 16.00 entry was restricted"

Autumn Spectacle: Colors and Lakes
Several key locations along the route are particularly famous for their autumn beauty. Magarisawa Pond is a must-visit for its tranquil waters that perfectly mirror the surrounding fall colors, creating a stunning photographic opportunity. The Urabandai region, with its collection of lakes and ponds, offers diverse perspectives of the foliage. The contrast between the vibrant leaves, the deep blue of the lakes, and the imposing presence of Mount Bandai and Mount Azuma is truly captivating.
When planning your autumn visit, consider that the weather can be unpredictable. While the colors are at their best, rain showers are not uncommon, which can make the roads slick but also enhance the vibrancy of the leaves.
