"I enjoyed the autumn foliage along the Mt. Bandai Gold Line (^^)v
The autumn foliage around Mt. Bandai was at its peak.🍁
It was the coldest day of the fall, and Mt. Bandai recorded its first snowfall.❄️
The summit was covered in a blanket of snow.🏔

"I visited by bicycle in September 2003. The highest point is 1,194m above sea level, and from the Inawashiro side, you can enjoy a magnificent view at 800m above sea level. From the Urabandai side, it's 300m above sea level and there are no open areas. Both are two-lane roads and there are no steep slopes. There is a parking lot and toilets at the pass. I also visited in September 2025. After 20 years, the trees below the observation deck have grown, making it difficult to see Lake Inawashiro."

"It was the best time to see the autumn leaves, and they looked like a tunnel. The rain had made the red leaves wet and shiny. It's hard to capture in a video, but it was so beautiful to see in person!"

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider visiting during off-peak hours or on weekdays to avoid larger crowds and ensure a more relaxed experience for your family. The Magic of Autumn on the Gold Line
To make the most of this seasonal spectacle, planning your visit during the peak foliage period is key. While the colors are stunning, be prepared for cooler temperatures, as it can be quite chilly, even marking the first snowfall of the season on Mount Bandai itself. The combination of vibrant colors, crisp air, and the majestic presence of Mount Bandai makes this a photographer's and nature lover's paradise. Remember to check local foliage reports to pinpoint the exact timing of the peak colors for your visit.
Pro Tip: Even if the weather isn't perfectly clear, rain can add a unique sheen to the wet leaves, creating a different kind of photographic beauty. The experience is often described as something that's hard to capture fully on video, emphasizing the need to see it in person.
