What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Namase Falls offers a spectacular view, particularly during autumn, with its unique rocky riverbed and cascading water. However, the challenging 473-step climb is a significant deterrent for many, requiring good physical condition and caution due to slippery conditions.
"The view of the water flowing through the rock bed and the autumn leaves adorning the surrounding mountains is spectacular.
After summiting Mount Tsukioi, we headed towards Fukuroda Falls, stopping off at Namase Falls on the way.
The water flows slowly towards the waterfall. The river flows between the rock beds on a flat area, becoming a waterfall before cascading into Fukuroda Falls.
The view, combined with the autumn leaves on the surrounding mountains, is spectacular.
On the way back, we climbed back up the original mountain path partway down to Fukuroda Falls. There are stairs on the slope, but they get steeper as you go down. They can be slippery and dangerous when wet, so please be careful when descending."

"After leaving the Fukuroda Falls observation tunnel, take a side path and cross the suspension bridge to find the stairs to Namase Falls.
As written at the entrance to the stairs, they are quite steep and the steps are narrow, so they may be difficult for those with small children or those with weak legs.
There are also many fallen leaves which make the ground slippery.
Halfway through the path, the steps change to stone steps and from here the slope becomes quite steep.
There are also some sections with no handrails.
Once you reach the top, there is a fork in the road that leads to the summit of Mt. Tsukigoe, which continues on to the Namase Falls observation deck.
From the observation deck, you can see Namase Falls from a slightly angle. The view is stunning."

"I wanted to descend from Mt. Tsukioi and head towards Namase Falls, but at a four-way fork in the mountain just before the summit, there was an arrow sign with two directions: "Towards Fukuroda Falls" and "Towards Namase," and I thought, "I'd like to stop by Namase Falls before going to Fukuroda Falls," so I descended towards Namase.
As a result, I ended up on National Route 461.
I wanted to somehow make it back to Fukuroda Falls from there, but the road was closed when I reached almost the backside of Namase Falls, so I ended up having to climb part of Mt. Tsukioi again and descend towards Namase Falls, which was more exhausting than I expected.
I really need to check the hiking map carefully."
