What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking beauty and intricate golden mosaics of St. Mark's Basilica, describing it as a must-see in Venice. The after-hours tours are particularly lauded for their magical atmosphere and lack of crowds. However, some find the ticketing system confusing and the daytime crowds overwhelming.
"St. Mark’s Square is truly the heart of Venice and an absolute must-see. Its stunning architecture, especially St. Mark’s Basilica and the surrounding historic buildings, reflects the city’s rich history and timeless beauty. During the day, the square is lively and full of energy, but in the evening it becomes magical. The restaurants around the square host live classical and romantic music performances, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. With the lights illuminating the square at night, it feels like stepping into a painting. A place where you can truly feel the soul of Venice"

"We enjoyed a unique guided evening tour of one of the most spectacular Cathedrals in all of Italy, this Basilica displays all of the treasures and relics brought to Venice, following the Siege and Sack of Constantinople in 1204 during the Fourth Crusade.
We took this guided tour in the evening. Using Walks Tours, which has special access after hours, offering us a rather private tour of the famous location. This tour is the only way to see the basilica in the late afternoon or evening. I would highly recommend this tour if you can reserve it."

"📍 Saint Mark’s Basilica – Venice, Italy 🇮🇹
A breathtaking masterpiece of Byzantine architecture ⛪✨ and one of Venice’s most iconic landmarks. The golden mosaics inside shimmer beautifully 🌟, with domes, marble floors, and intricate details that tell centuries of history 📜. Outside, the ornate façade and horses of St. Mark 🐎 overlook Piazza San Marco, creating a majestic sight. It’s usually very crowded 🚶♂️🚶♀️, so booking tickets online 🎟️ or visiting early is highly recommended. ⚠️ As with the square, be mindful of pickpockets 👛. A must-see highlight of Venice. 🙌"
