What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Riomaggiore is a visually stunning village with a vibrant harbor and colorful houses, offering breathtaking sunset views and a lively atmosphere. While many appreciate its charm and convenience as a base for exploring Cinque Terre, some find it overwhelmingly crowded and commercialized, with issues like malfunctioning ticket machines detracting from the experience.
"Very beautiful little town, although not my favourite of the Cinque Terre.
We came walking from Manarola (which required a rather steep passage fee of €35). When you come to the train station you can either go through a tunnel or via a tight and twisty coastal path (recommended even though a bitt challenging).
There is basically only one street from the marina and up, winding through old houses and lots of vendors/stores/restaurant (and lots of tourists of course).
The Castello (entrance included in the mentioned passage fee) was nice but a bit underwhelming.
Overall, highly worth a visit"

A small but very convenient train stop 🚆 at the edge of Riomaggiore. From here you can easily travel between the Cinque Terre villages 🌊🚉 within minutes using the regional trains. The station is connected to the town by a pedestrian tunnel 🚶♂️ that leads directly into the colorful village streets 🏡. Ticket machines 🎟️ and counters are available, though trains can be crowded during peak times 🚶♀️🚶♂️. Its location makes exploring the coast quick and easy—perfect for day trips. 🙌
📍 Riomaggiore Village – Cinque Terre, Italy 🇮🇹
After an evening hike 🥾, we headed to Riomaggiore to enjoy the sunset view 🌅 over the sea and stayed for dinner 🍝🍷 in the village. The colorful houses stacked along the cliffs 🏡 and the small harbor 🚤 looked magical in the golden light ✨. It was the perfect ending to a day in Cinque Terre—scenic, relaxing, and full of charm. 🙌"

"Great Train Station
Your usual Cinque Terre train station, having all amenities: Toilet, little shop, etc. Here what is interesting is that you have to go through a fairly long tunnel (about 300 meters) to get from the station to the village.
The village is absolutely gorgeous!"
