What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Antiquarium Turritano for its fascinating outdoor archaeological site, particularly the Roman baths and mosaics, often enhanced by knowledgeable guides like Stefano. However, some find the museum exhibits less compelling and express frustration with tour cancellations due to weather or unclear access policies for the ruins.
"Very nice Museum. The inside is okay but the outside excavation is really great. It's only open after museum closes.
We had a private tour as we were the only visitors and got a great lesson about the history of the bath.
Thank you Stefano!"

"You need to join the tour to see the outside area. There seems to be just one afternoon tour - at 3pm. Returned at 2.40pm and paid 8 euros for my ticket. At 2.45pm it started to rain. Two of the three staff came to the door, opened it and gesticulated at the weather and declared the tour would be cancelled due to rain. It stopped after 5-7 minutes so I assumed the tour would still go ahead. Unfortunately it seemed IT WAS TOO DANGEROUS to even set foot outside. This seemed a bit of overreaction given that some areas were paved. I did notice the only time the three staff (responsible for all 5 visitors) showed any animation was when cancelling the tour and they otherwise looked pretty miserable. I was refunded 3 euros so spent 5 euros for10 minutes looking at some rather dull cabinets of archeological findings hence the two stars. The outdoor area looked interesting but check the clouds before handing over any money!"

"We wanted to visit the archaeological site. All the signs and google business info says the admission is between 9am to 4pm and the last admission is at 3pm. We were told at the entrance that we aren’t allowed to visit the site and the only possible admission would be at 3pm. Really strange, because all the signs (different ones, not only one) clearly states something different. Too bad, we would have really loved to visit the archeological site…"
