What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Neptune's Grotto as a highlight of their Sardinia trip, marveling at the spectacular stalactites, underground lakes, and breathtaking coastal views from the Escala del Cabirol staircase. While the climb back up can be challenging, the unique beauty of the cave makes it a highly recommended destination.
"A highlight of my trip to Sardinia! Did not expect it to be as great. The stairs can be challenging especially on the way up, but you’re surrounded by incredible views all long which makes it worth it. The cave itself was spectacular!
Make sure to book your time slot few days ahead of the visit. After you receive the reservation on your email, then you can either pay/purchase the ticket online or at the ticket office in front of the cave. Note that the (unpaid) reservation is the most important thing to have and show to the staff.
There are at least two different buses that go to the cave from different parts of the city or nearby beaches (Mugoni beach for example or the nearby parking).
The buses might be few minutes later than what Google Maps shows, but they eventually arrive.
It is recommended to not park at the cave, but rather in the nearby beach parking areas"

"Beautiful place, definitely worth visiting! The bus ride is easy, but be ready for lots of stairs — especially on the way back. The cave is cool, pleasant, and full of amazing rock formations. Wear comfy shoes!"

"Buy tickets at the port, then pay at another kiosk for the caves tour before you go on boat, or you will not get entry to the caves.
Approximate 45 minute journey on our boat.
The boat then waited maybe 10 minutes, on other tour boat leaving the cave access. As only 1 boat can access at a time.
Once inside- this is amazing. The stalactites (down) and stalagmites (upwards) are so beautiful. The tour guide talks via a speaker system via a few different languages for tourists.
Interesting fact- The stalactites grow 1cm every 100 years, but obviously other various factors can change this.
This cave is estimated to be approximately 2 million of years old. They were only discovered in the 18th century by local fishermen. Wow!!"
