"A beautiful and picturesque archaeological site, the remains of the largest and most important maritime freight hub of ancient times, strategically located inland, nestled in the Salento countryside, yet connected to the crystal-clear sea by the evocative "canyon" or path of the Volito Canal, immersed in the rejuvenating Salento nature. It's well worth a visit."
Pierpaolo Piscopiello
"They say that an important Messapian center once stood here, but that is history gone by. Today there is an area for walking, on asphalt, with a small church of little significance and paths that are not at all maintained. They say that the Vereto forest stands here, but there is not even a shadow of trees, apart from the olive trees dried up by neglect and abandonment of the countryside. The only positive note? The area is located on high ground and it is possible to see the landscape of Patù, Castrignano and, in the distance, Montesardo. That is, seeing a jumble of houses from an area that, once, had a meaning."
