"A city yet to be discovered, an area larger than Pompeii. Many structures to visit, some from multiple overlapping historical periods. Immersed in the Roman countryside, overlooking what was once Lake Castiglione.
Open by reservation or the first Sunday of the month."
Chiara Elisabetta Del Guerra
"It is not a simple trip, not a usual guided tour.
It is a total immersion in our history.
Visiting Gabii is like taking part in an event that promotes ancient memories, poetic upheaval, historical revisitation.
In the 6th century BC the hegemony of the Tarquins is told by ancient sources. They certainly occupied Collatia and Gabii, crossing the border of the river. Once upon a time the volcanic lake of Castiglione stood here; to the west, an area very rich in water - the Cervelletta catchment basin fed by numerous springs, including the Fosso di Tor Sapienza. To the east the Monti Prenestini.
The rest is told here, but the openings are not frequent.
Welcome to Gabii."
