"Il Museo Duilio Cambellotti si trova in Piazza S. Marco, nel centro storico di Latina.
La sede è ubicata nella Palazzina dell’Ex Opera Balilla, progettata dall’Architetto Oriolo Frezzotti nel 1932.
L’edificio si presenta con una forma semicircolare e si sviluppa su due piani, sulla parte frontale spicca al primo piano un monumentale portale ligneo e nella parte superiore un finestrone vetrato quadrato.
Nel 2005 in questo sito nasce il Museo Civico Duilio Cambellotti dedicato a questo grande artista romano vissuto dal 1876 al 1960 e che ha prodotto molte opere nell’Agro Pontino, quali diversi monumenti ai caduti e cicli pittorici.
Il Museo raccoglie una vastità di opere che illustrano le capacità poliedriche di questo grande artista.
Segnalo quanto ho potuto ammirare:
Sala 1 “Grafica ed illustrazione”, dove si trovano anche alcuni suoi cartelloni pubblicitari
Sala 2 ”Disegni” sono presenti decine di disegni a matita e china
Sala 3 “Sculture”
Sala 4 “Arti Applicate incisorie, decorative” vi sono importanti realizzazioni in ceramica policroma di oggetti di uso comune, quali piatti e brocche.
Sala “La Redenzione dell’Agro”, le opere sono esposte nell’EX Palestra, una grande sala rettangolare (40x12 mt) e una altezza di oltre 12 metri con una copertura lignea con capriate a vista.
Sicuramente ho tralasciato diverse cose, comunque è una visita molto interessante che aiuta a comprendere gli usi e costumi della prima metà del secolo scorso."
