Reviews Summary

Espace San Bernardo is praised as an impressive, medium-sized ski resort offering great value, particularly for its affordable food and drink. Visitors appreciate the extensive skiing available across La Thuile and La Rosière, with excellent snow quality on the north-facing runs. While some lifts could use modernization and the connecting button lift is noted as lengthy, the overall experience is highly positive, with many planning return visits.

"A really impressive medium size ski resort which for our visit in the first week of march was relatively quiet. We purchased a 7 day ski pass which entitled us to 2 visit's to other ski resorts in the Aosta valley. We choose courmayeur and pila. There was great skiing to suit all abilities. The valley runs would probably be better suited to intermediate skiers but less confident skiers could catch the gondola. Over 150k of skiing available in la thuile and la rosiere. As majority of runs in la thuile are north facing the snow holds up really well. The Town was lovely with a purpose built hotel and the old town. Food was really good with a good choice of restaurants and best of all really cheap in comparison with other alpine ski resorts. A coffee on the mountain was only €2. Only negative, alot of the lifts could do with modernising and the boarder crossing between la thuile and la rosiere is the longest button lift I've ever been on, surely a chairlift could be added"

Scott Barron

"Went 3rd week of March no queues for the lifts great snow, good food and drink up the mountain."

Charles Willcock

"We hit La Thuile on a very quiet week day (Jan. 12) for the first time. The Italian side was scrubbed to the base but we made it over to the French side for a big powder day. Beware: Coming back from the French side, on a snowboard, requires a very long Poma ride! We would come here again!"

Navigating the Espace San Bernardo Ski Area

The Espace San Bernardo ski area, straddling the French-Italian border, offers over 150km of pistes. It's comprised of two main resorts: La Thuile on the Italian side and La Rosière on the French side. La Thuile is known for its extensive north-facing slopes, which generally provide excellent snow conditions throughout the season. Reddit La Rosière, conversely, boasts south-facing slopes that are bathed in sunshine, making it ideal for those who enjoy skiing in warmer, brighter conditions. Reddit

While the ski pass grants access to both sides, the connection isn't always seamless. A notable point of discussion among visitors is the very long button lift required to travel between the two resorts, particularly when returning to La Thuile from La Rosière. Some suggest a chairlift would be a welcome addition. Reddit Despite this, the sheer amount of skiing available and the varied terrain make it a worthwhile destination for intermediate skiers and above, with options for less confident skiers to utilize gondolas. Reddit
