Reviews Summary
Spiaggia La Marina di Castelsardo is a picturesque beach in a charming town, offering beautiful sunset views and opportunities for snorkeling around its rocky cliffs. However, recent visitor experiences have been marred by significant plastic pollution in the water, raising concerns about swimming safety and environmental quality.
"If you enjoy swimming in plastic soup, this is it! It's a nice place for sunset walk.., but I won't be swimming there again. Thousands of small and larger pieces of plastic float in the water. I wonder why the authorities haven't cleaned up the beach and the bay."

"Castelsardo is a very beautiful town . It is divided in two, the old town on the top of the hill with the castle, then the modern side of the town on the sea level ... absolutely you must have a walk in the old town, be careful lot of stairs but you are going to enjoy it, in special way the beautiful view of the sea from the top of the castle . In the old town you also will find lot of nice restaurants, bar and shops . Definitely recommended !"

Navigating Castelsardo: Old Town vs. Seaside
In contrast, the seaside area is more contemporary and home to Spiaggia La Marina. This part of town provides easier access to the beach and a different, more relaxed atmosphere. While the beach itself is a pleasant spot for a stroll, especially at sunset, recent concerns about plastic pollution have impacted its appeal for swimming. Understanding this distinction is key to planning your visit, ensuring you experience the best of both worlds Castelsardo has to offer.
Environmental Concerns at Spiaggia La Marina
The lack of visible cleanup efforts has led to disappointment among visitors, who question why authorities haven't addressed the problem. While the beach is described as 'pretty clean' on the sand itself and the waters can be clear, the floating debris is a persistent issue. This situation highlights the importance of environmental awareness and the need for local authorities to implement effective waste management strategies to preserve this coastal area for both residents and tourists. Travelers planning a visit should be aware of these conditions and perhaps prioritize other activities or beaches if water quality is a primary concern.
