What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Baia Verde is praised for its stunning, Caribbean-like clear waters and white sands, offering a beautiful beach experience. However, many visitors find the beach clubs to be overly commercialized, with high prices for services and strict rules that detract from the enjoyment. Some also note that the sand and water can be less impressive than expected, with better alternatives available nearby.
"Nice beach, definitely worth visiting. Unfortunately, the organisers of Lido Baia Verde seem determined to milk visitors for every cent — they wanted an extra €10 just to sit at one of their flimsy plastic tables, even after we’d bought a coffee for €3. A shame how this kind of greed is spoiling Italy’s beautiful beaches."
Erjon Skora
"We have traveled across the world and been to many similar places. This is an absolute joke of a beach with ridiculous rules.
We came here because the beach looked nice and were looking for a nice private spot.
My partner and I chose to get two sunbeds without an umbrella for 30 € because we enjoy staying in the sun. We were given (they didn't let us chose) two sunbeds right in front of the water which kept on rising, which constantly threatened to put our belongings at risk of being drenched. We were told that we were not allowed to move them back even though there was plenty of spare room behind us and many other sunbeds were available.
You need to pay to take a shower (two princing points for either hot or cold), and you need to pay an extra 10€ if you want to have a drink on the deck by the beach.
We wanted to play a little game of racket by the water, away from everyone (the closest sunbed was at least 15 meters away) and were asked to stop by the personel for no apparent reason.
It is not a matter of cost, it is a matter of principle and respect. We felt that this place had none of it."

"Beach was half empty and clean. Pros are that you have parking in front of entrance and you have sunbeds and umbrells plus toilets and showers. Cons that everything is paid: Parking 10€ a day (sam as on street) and entrance for 2 (2 sunbeds 1 umbrella) 35€"

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Look for beach clubs that offer amenities like playgrounds or family-friendly dining options. Renting a villa or apartment with a private garden and barbecue can also enhance the family experience, providing space for kids to play and for easy meal preparation.
Consider visiting during weekdays or the shoulder seasons to avoid the peak crowds and enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere. Bringing plenty of sun protection, snacks, and water is essential for a comfortable day out with children.
💸 Budget Travelers
Consider visiting during the shoulder seasons (late spring or early autumn) when accommodation and rental prices might be lower. Instead of staying directly on the beach, look for more affordable options in Gallipoli town or nearby villages and use public transport or walk to the beach.
🥂 Couples & Groups
For a romantic evening, enjoy sunset cocktails at one of the beach bars, followed by dinner at a seaside restaurant. Groups might enjoy the vibrant beach clubs with music and social spaces, or consider renting a villa with ample outdoor space for gatherings.

Understanding Baia Verde's Beach Clubs
For those seeking a more budget-friendly or relaxed experience, look for the 'spiaggia libera' (free beach) sections. These areas offer direct access to the sea and sand without the associated costs of the lidos. However, they typically lack amenities like sunbeds, umbrellas, and dedicated services, and can become quite crowded. It's a trade-off between cost and convenience, and many visitors find a balance by spending part of their day at a lido and part on the free beach.
When choosing a beach club, consider what you're looking for. Some are known for their party atmosphere, while others are more family-oriented or offer a quieter retreat. It's worth researching different lidos beforehand or exploring the options upon arrival to find the best fit for your day at the beach.
The Nightlife Scene
Venues like Vega Discoteque and Rio Bo are frequently mentioned in relation to Baia Verde's nightlife, offering a chance to experience the energetic party scene of Gallipoli. These spots can get very busy, so if you're planning to go out, it's advisable to check opening times and consider booking in advance, especially for larger groups.
For those who prefer a more relaxed evening, Gallipoli's historic center offers a charming alternative with numerous restaurants, bars, and cafes. You can enjoy a leisurely dinner or a drink with beautiful sea views, away from the more intense clubbing atmosphere.
Accommodation Options Near Baia Verde
Many properties are advertised as being 'fronte spiagge' (facing the beaches) or just a short walk away, providing ultimate convenience for beach lovers. Some accommodations are also pet-friendly, which is a great plus for travelers with furry companions.
For a broader selection, consider staying in Gallipoli town itself. This offers a wider variety of hotels, B&Bs, and rental apartments, and you can easily commute to Baia Verde for your beach days. Staying in Gallipoli also provides easier access to its historic sites, restaurants, and evening entertainment.
