What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Tishbi Winery Visitors Center is praised for its delicious food, particularly the grilled eggplant and Hachapuri, and its excellent value wine tastings. The beautiful outdoor dining setting under grapevines is a major draw. However, the self-service model and perceived lack of attentive service are recurring criticisms, with some visitors finding it challenging to get staff attention.
"I went there for a light lunch with a friend. If you are not technologically savvy - good luck. There are no menus, only the computerized option or the QR. The menu is perfect for light meals and the food is outstanding. Prices are also VERY reasonable for Israeli standards, but perhaps this is due to the lack of manpower. Others commented on poor service. I would like to correct this: There IS no service. Other than helpers bringing the food tot he table (they spoke neither Hebrew nor English), you need to help yourself. I was ok with this, but I can see it being a problem for some. We ordered little open sandwiches with camembert and the special: mushrooms on a bed of polenta - both delicious. We sat undisturbed for 2.5 hours."

"The food itself was delicious, but I had a really strange experience. My egg was served directly on paper with no bread whatsoever. I asked twice and mentioned it to multiple staff members, but still never received any bread with my breakfast. This is especially odd considering the restaurant has its own bakery on site. I ended up having to go to the bakery side and purchase a loaf of bread myself just to finish my meal properly. The bread from the bakery was excellent, which makes it even more puzzling why it wasn’t included with breakfast service. Disappointed overall despite the good flavors."

"The outdoor restaurant is in a beautiful and peaceful shaded setting. The wait staff was very accommodating. They have a QR code you can scan with your phone to view the menu in Hebrew or English. We wanted a complicated pizza; my husband can't eat tomato sauce, but I love it. They allowed us to order a custom pizza. The salad was refreshing. We also enjoyed generously sized glasses of Petit Verdot.
After our meal we enjoyed chocolates with a wine tasting session in English. Roi entertained us with the history of the winery and the family that started it. The pairing of 6 chocolates with 6 wines was excellent! And we enjoyed meeting new people. The price was extremely reasonable at 60 shekels per person."

The Tishbi Wine Experience
Many reviews highlight the value for money of the wine tastings, with sessions often priced very reasonably for the quality and quantity offered. This makes it an accessible indulgence for many visitors. The selection includes well-regarded wines like Carignan and Petit Verdot, showcasing the diversity of their offerings.
For those interested in the winemaking process, while a full tour might not always be available, the overall atmosphere of the visitors center, with its vineyard views and the presence of the bakery and restaurant, provides a holistic sense of the winery's operation. It’s a place where the fruits of the land are celebrated and shared.
Navigating the Self-Service Restaurant
Food is brought to your table by staff, but don't expect extensive table service beyond that. This approach helps keep prices remarkably low for the quality of food served, a point frequently mentioned by satisfied visitors. Dishes like the grilled eggplant, Hachapuri, and various open sandwiches are consistently praised for their deliciousness and generous portions. The outdoor seating, nestled under grapevines, adds a significant charm to the dining experience, making it a peaceful escape.
While the food receives rave reviews, some patrons note that the service can feel impersonal or slow due to the self-service model and potentially limited staffing. However, many visitors find the quality of the food and the serene ambiance to be well worth the minimal service interaction. It’s a system that prioritizes culinary excellence and a relaxed atmosphere over traditional hospitality.
