What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Goa Maria Sawer Rahmat Cisantana is praised for its beautiful, serene natural setting at the base of Mount Ciremai, offering a peaceful pilgrimage experience. Visitors appreciate the spiritual atmosphere, the challenging yet rewarding climb via the Way of the Cross, and the refreshing natural spring water. Some note the strenuous nature of the stairs, advising preparation.
"St. Mary grotto located in a superb setting, at the foot of Mt. Ciremai. A popular pilgrimage destination for the Catholics in Java, you must climb quite a number of stairs from the parking lot, so it might take you 20-30 minutes to reach it. Depending on physics, i suggest taking a break and bringing plenty of water. If you walk alone without a group, the climb was very peaceful as you'll only hear bristles of leaves and the forest creatures singing. On a clear day, from the grotto you can have a glimpse of Mt. Slamet 100 km away."

"Set at the base of Mount Ciremai in Cisantana Village, the Fatima Sawer Rahmat Maria Cave is a peaceful stop that offers more than just a beautiful view—it’s a place to breathe, reflect, and reconnect. Known as a pilgrimage site for Catholics, it quietly welcomes visitors of all backgrounds, and the spirit of tolerance here feels genuine and warm.
The journey begins with the Way of the Cross, starting from the Garden of Gethsemane. There are 14 stations that walk you through the story of Jesus’ suffering. The path has its challenges, but with prayer and purpose, each step feels meaningful. At the end of the trail, you’ll find the Maria Cave, where a white statue of the Virgin Mary stands in serene silence. The air is cooler here, almost as if the mountain is gently reminding you to slow down.
In a world that moves quickly, places like this invite you to pause—pray if you wish, or simply be present. It’s not just about religion, but about finding a bit of peace within yourself."
