Reviews Summary
Bukit Kaba offers stunning natural beauty with its twin craters and the magical 'sea of clouds,' making it a popular hiking destination. However, some visitors have expressed disappointment with the high entrance fees for foreigners and the condition of facilities, noting a lack of commensurate services.
"Beautiful set of active craters at around 1936mdpl. The biggest one has a stair to the edge from the parking place (~60k/motor if you want to get here from the entrance post) and ruined facilities (2021), and there is a path around this crater. The smaller deep green one towards the northeast is more difficult to access and requires a steep decent from the rim towards the left side when you arrive at the edge with the stair. Do not take the concrete path from the parking (it leads to a shelter which is separated by a very steep ravine from the greeni crater.
For good walkers it is possible to walk up and down in around 4hours included discovering the craters."

"If you are foreign tourist, you're not welcomed here. This is the message from Indonesian authorities when they ask entrance fee 20x times higher than the locals. You need to pay 150k pp per day. What you get in exchange: some broken stairs at the top, lots of trash and and a broken path. I mean in some parts if it's raining you could be swept away, basically water canals not hiking path worth 150k. Ok, so you pay 20x more than locals - do you get 20x more/higher services? Nope. Everything is the same. Don't get me wrong - the volcano is beautiful, but it wasn't made by the Indonesian authorities. Also the path would be fine if you would pay 7,5k, but for 150k you expect some services and amenities and you expect the path to be clean of rubbish."

"Nice view. Easy climbing. Not the best idea to walk here in rain season"

The smaller, northeastern crater is a deeper, vibrant green and presents a more challenging descent. Travelers are advised to be cautious when accessing this crater, as the path requires a steep climb down from the rim. It's crucial to follow the correct routes and avoid paths that lead to steep ravines, especially if conditions are wet.
These craters are a testament to the volcanic activity in the region and provide a unique geological experience for visitors. The contrast between the two craters, both in size and accessibility, adds to the allure of Bukit Kaba.
Navigating Fees and Visitor Experience
Reviews mention that despite the higher fees, the facilities at the summit, such as stairs and paths, can be in disrepair or poorly maintained. This has led to disappointment among visitors who expect better amenities for the price paid. The presence of trash has also been noted, detracting from the natural beauty.
Despite these concerns, many visitors still find the natural spectacle of Bukit Kaba, especially the 'sea of clouds' and panoramic views, to be worth the effort. It's recommended to go into the visit with awareness of these potential issues and to focus on appreciating the natural wonders.
