What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Dariya Daulat Bagh is praised for its stunning, well-preserved murals and beautiful, tranquil gardens. Visitors appreciate the historical significance and the peaceful atmosphere, though some find the entry process and photography ticket system to be inconvenient.
"A must-visit gem of Srirangapatna – Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace!
After visiting the Ranganathaswamy Temple, our next stop was Daria Daulat Bagh, the famous summer palace of Tipu Sultan. The entry process is simple — ₹20 per adult, paid by scanning a QR code at the entrance (no paper tickets).
We had earlier visited Tipu Sultan’s palace in Bangalore, but this one truly stands out. The moment you step inside, the vivid wall and ceiling paintings capture your attention — scenes of battles, royal processions, and portraits of Tipu and his family beautifully preserved over centuries. The artistic detail and vibrant colors are just mesmerizing. There’s also a small display of old weapons and arms, and outside you can spot a cannon with stone cannonballs, adding to the royal ambience.
The palace sits within a huge, beautifully maintained garden — green lawns, tall and old trees, and peaceful pathways make it a lovely place to walk around. Architecturally, it’s a fine example of Indo-Islamic design, built mostly in teakwood around 1784. The structure, though not very large, exudes elegance with its ornate arches, floral motifs, and rich paintings that narrate the history of Tipu’s reign.
Overall, Daria Daulat Bagh offers a wonderful combination of history, art, and natural beauty. Perfect for families, history lovers, and photography enthusiasts alike."

"To get in, you have to register at the entrance — and honestly, it’s quite irritating, especially if you’re in a group. The process takes longer than it should and definitely needs to be simplified.
That said, the place itself is very well maintained, clean, and all the old artifacts and items are nicely preserved. They also have a huge garden area that’s peaceful and absolutely worth spending time in. The staff is polite, helpful, and approachable whenever you need assistance. Overall, a good experience — just wish the entry process was quicker and smoother."

"Visited this beautiful palace, the palace is well maintained and preserved good. The murals and art on the walls is so beautiful and one of the main attraction for this palace. The palace is surrounded by the good garden and trees. I visited in week day, and the rush was very less.
More info: 20 rupees per person for entry ticket. Photos are allowed to take. There is a mule cart ride available which costs 200 per ride."
