Reviews Summary

Jahaz Mahal is a historically significant Lodi-era monument, praised for its unique architecture and the 'ship' illusion created by its reflection. However, many visitors are disappointed by its poor maintenance, litter, and unpleasant surrounding odors, leading to a mixed experience.

"Jahaz Mahal is located next to Hauz-i-Shamsi reservoir in Mehrauli. It was so named, since its reflection in the surrounding reservoir looked like a ship floating on a lake. It is believed to have been built during the Lodi dynasty period (1452–1526) as a pleasure resort, Serai, or an inn. The palace has carved square chhatris (six of them with different numbers of pillars – six, eight and twelve) in the corners and the centre, ornamented with beautiful squinches in different chambers and walls. The domed pavilion over the central gate is decorated with blue tiles. A small mosque is also located within the palace, as discerned from a mihrab in a niche on the west wall."

Vikas Singh

"It is a medieval architecture located next to hauz e shamsi. The structure is not well preserved and also there is a mini garbage dump just outside so the smell is very bad and the street to reach there is narrow and damaged."

Shahnawaz Mukhtar

"Not for casual tourists, but worth visiting if you're drawn to the silent stories of forgotten architecture.
No maintenance
Less number of visitors
Most of the visitors were local people
