ஒருமுறை பிரமனும் திருமாலும் மகாமேரு மலையின் சிகரம் ஒன்றில் சேர்ந்திருந்த பொழுது தேவர், முனிவர் முதலிய பலரும் அங்கு வந்து அவரை வணங்கி, நீவிர் எங்களைப் படைத்துக் காக்கும் தலைவராதலின், அனைத்துலகிற்கும் முதல்வனாய், உயிர்க்குயிராய் நிற்கும் முதற்கடவுள் யாவன் என்னும் ஐயத்தினையும் நீக்கி உண்மையை உணர்த்தல் வேண்டும் என வேண்டினர்.
