Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Shivanasamudra for its serene and scenic beauty, especially during the monsoon when the waterfalls are at their most powerful. The accessibility as a day trip from Bangalore and the availability of coracle rides are also highlighted as positives. However, some find the viewing distance too far and advise avoiding peak summer due to intense heat and lack of shade.

"Serene view. Good to visit only when the weather is good. The day we went was very sunny and it was not less than a torture standing there and looking at the falls.

There is no contact with water in any possible way. You just get to see. So don't go with any expectations of boating or getting drenched in water. There are places on the way where boating is offered.

The place wasn't very crowded. An entry fee of 5/- is taken. That is in cash. Ensure to have some cash in your pocket to enter the falls area."

The Power of the Kaveri: Gaganachukki & Bharachukki

Shivanasamudra, meaning 'Shiva's Sea', is famous for its twin waterfalls: Gaganachukki and Bharachukki. These falls are formed by the River Kaveri as it plunges into a gorge. Gaganachukki is known for its horseshoe-shaped cascade, while Bharachukki offers a wider, more powerful flow. The sheer volume of water, especially during the monsoon season, is a spectacular sight that draws visitors from across the region. Instagram+1

For those seeking a closer water experience, coracle rides are available on the calmer stretches of the Kaveri River near Bharachukki. These traditional round boats offer a unique and peaceful way to enjoy the river's beauty and the surrounding landscape. Instagram
