What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the breathtaking ocean views and the unique experience of soaking in warm seawater, especially during sunset. The clean facilities and friendly staff are frequently praised. However, some guests have noted issues with noise from other visitors and found the changing room lockers difficult to use.
"A lovely place to visit especially if you've been out in the cold doing whale watching nearby. Changing rooms and the actual pool areas were very clean and kept tidy. Little swim up bar was good and drinks were nice. We only managed to stay just over an hour because we'd had enough of the heat from the thermal waters but you can stay as long as you want. I would say some people might want more privacy in terms of the changing rooms as it's all open but not really an issue for me"

"Amazing place, amazing view, amazing sunset. Place where you can find your inner peace.
I strongly recommend installing recommendations to keep quiet. During my stay i ve meet two Spanish couples who disturbed the serenity of the place. After they made 100 pictures per person, each of them started to call their relative on camera.. huge noise and totally impolite and unacceptable for the others."

"Absolutely cannot beat the view! We visited at sunset/twilight, and watching the sky change colors was incredible.
When you arrive, you are given a wrist band, which is how you are granted access to a locker. The changing room is small but clean. The lockers had a unique shape that I didn't appreciate. I found them hard to use. There weren't private showers (although there was a private changing room--they might have had a private shower as well).
After you shower, you leave the warmth of the changing room for the windy and brisk walk to the pool.
There are three pools; each have a different temperature. The main pool you see when you shiver out is lovely and warm.
The pool close to the lighthouse is cooler, and the pool near the bar window is the hottest.
The drink options seemed reasonable (for Iceland) and the people who work there are kind and personable.
There are 2 hairdryers in the women's changing room, so you might need to wait your turn to dry your hair."

The GeoSea Experience: More Than Just a Soak
The facility is designed to maximize the stunning natural surroundings. You can choose from pools of varying temperatures, allowing you to find your ideal comfort level. The main pool is warm and inviting, while others are cooler, offering a refreshing contrast. The swim-up bar adds a touch of luxury, allowing you to enjoy a drink without leaving the soothing waters.
Beyond the pools, the overall atmosphere is one of tranquility. While some reviews mention noise from other guests, the intention of GeoSea is to provide a peaceful escape. The staff are noted for their professionalism and friendliness, contributing to a positive visitor experience. It's a place where you can truly unwind and soak in the beauty of North Iceland.
Comparing GeoSea to Other Icelandic Geothermal Baths
Compared to the famous Blue Lagoon, GeoSea is often described as more peaceful and less crowded, offering a more intimate experience. It's also generally more affordable than the Blue Lagoon, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious travelers. While the Blue Lagoon is known for its silica mud masks and expansive facilities, GeoSea focuses on the raw beauty of its natural setting and the therapeutic qualities of its mineral-rich seawater.
Another popular option in the North is the Mývatn Nature Baths. While both offer stunning natural settings, GeoSea's direct ocean view is a significant draw. Mývatn Nature Baths are situated amidst a volcanic landscape, offering a different but equally beautiful vista. The choice between them often comes down to personal preference for the specific scenery and the desire for a seawater versus freshwater experience.
