Sunday hike to La Tigra national park 🇭🇳 Took a different route than I did last time I visited. Saw a few critters today, including a guatusa (an agouti in English) which I’ve never seen before! If you come early enough, you may be lucky to see a green toucan. Ocelots & quetzals also live in this forest, but it’s rare to spot them. Loved breathing the fresh air, feeling the cold mountain water, an...

Reviews Summary

La Tigra National Park is highly praised for its stunning natural beauty and challenging hiking trails, particularly the trek to the waterfall. Visitors enjoy the immersive cloud forest experience and the chance to spot wildlife. However, be prepared for muddy conditions and bring all necessary supplies, as amenities are limited.

"Great place to enjoy the outdoors with friends or family. Quite popular with trekking enthusiasts and nature lovers. There is a visitor's center for you to learn about the many different species of plants, animals, insects and fungi inside the park."

"Great hike! I hiked to the beautiful waterfall. It was a difficult wet hike, but I am happy I completed it. It took 4 hours total. It has uphill and downhill both ways. Bring plenty of water and snacks to keep the energy up. Not many animal sightings but I could hear plenty of birds and critters. My shoes were covered in mud by the end of the hike. No wait to purchase tickets. I went on a Wednesday and did not see another person the entire hike other than the employee at the ticket office."

Steven Nelson

"Very nice park. Nice trails and beautiful surroundings. Started at ~9:15 am at about 1925m, hiked to falls took me ~3h30m, peaked at 2170m then all downhill to the falls (1900m) and it was a little tricky. It was quite muddy too, rainy season and had rained the night before. Spent 20min up at the Falls resting, snacking, relaxing. Then back to HQ."
