What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Pandama Retreat & Winery offers a unique, nature-filled escape with praised wine tastings and a refreshing blackwater creek. However, experiences can vary, with some visitors highlighting challenging road access and mixed reviews on hospitality and food quality.
"I do not recommend this place. Tracy (the owner of the place) proved to be a very unempathetic person. She welcomed me as a volunteer and when I arrived at the place around 8pm she did not want to let me in, I mean, I understand that she does not like receiving people at night, but the problem was that she did not tell me before, around 7pm she told me about it and I had not even been able to read the message because there was no signal after 6:30pm. She did exactly the same with two other travelers I met. Still, I decided to volunteer because I wanted to give it a chance but she again had an attitude lacking empathy when she kicked me out in the middle of the night for not being happy with the work I was doing there when she could have just as easily asked me to leave early the next day. At no time did she understand how vulnerable a foreigner who does not speak the language and does not know the country is in the middle of the night. Seriously, really from the bottom of my heart, do not go to this place."

"What a beautiful place! Off the beaten track, away from the Linden highway, just before you get to Splashmins and on the opposite side. Lovely nature retreat. Saw a couple of monkeys, birds, lizards and fish. The creek is an absolute pleasure. Not too deep at this time, everyone can and should enjoy. We were treated to about 4-5 samples of wine of different types and flavour. And the meal was sumptuous - an organic mix of rice and greens, lovely salad and choice of chicken or fish - the butterfish was gorgeous. Recommendation: just do it!"

"Friends have been going over the years and given mixed reviews. They suggested I visit and have an open mind. The road trip there is awful. The sand trial leading there is awful. Vehicle got stuck twice. The owners presentation of self is was not welcoming. She looked like she just woke up and her attire was not that of a business owner welcoming guests. She was curt and terse in answering questions. The food itself was a disaster. It was American with a spin of Caribbean: spiral noodles and bajee with blackened fish and a version of cordon bleu chicken. The toilet would not flush without a bucket and the walls of the toilet area are Bohemian fabric."
