What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Guyana National Museum informative, with highlights including taxidermied local animals and historical artifacts. While the exhibits are engaging, some guests note the lack of air conditioning and occasional issues with staff rudeness. Despite these drawbacks, it's considered a valuable stop for understanding Guyana's history and nature.
"This museum offers a view of the many animals in Guyana with stiffed real life versions and Skelton versions of many animals. I loved seeing the capybara. I enjoyed seeing the history of many different coins from Guyana, the British monarchy and other countries.
The museum would benefit from a sponsor to provide air conditioning to maintain the precious items here"

"Although it could use an update, the museum itself is very informative. I have brought several guests to the museum when they visit us here in Guyana. I have decided to address an issue with staff as this is not the first time I have experienced rudeness from the lady who I assume is supposed to welcome you into the museum, but her attitude is anything but welcoming. Maybe she should be moved behind the scenes or if she is unhappy with her job move on the something else? The other staff were mostly friendly. I enjoy the sight, there is lots to see, and it is conveniently located in the heart of Georgetown. Please educate your employees on how to greet patrons, it is not as though it is an extremely busy place, when you are rude, one ends up feeling like they are a burden or not welcome."
