What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Asclepieion Trikke is an interesting archaeological site, offering a glimpse into ancient Trikki's role as a medical center. While it's still under excavation and not extensively promoted, visitors find it historically significant. However, be prepared for limited signage and potential closures.
"Some of the ancient ruins of Trikki remain here. They are still excavating and some areas are covered with work going on underneath. Trikki used to be one of the famous medical centers in ancient times. If you google it, you will find lots about the place in the net. Not much is left of Trikki today, but it is still interesting to visit and breathe the air of Ancient Greece
From here you can head into the old town, which is cute but very small, or head up to the Byzantine castle where the clock tower is located. From there you have the best view of the city of Trikala."

"An archaeological site that’s abandoned
It is one of the few archaeological sites of ancient Trikki. It is known as Asclepius, but it is not sufficiently documented. It appears to be a porticoed public building, perhaps a gymnasium, of the classical/Hellenistic period. In the next phase, a bath was built with hypocausts from the late Roman period. The area is closed to the public and has not been promoted at all. It doesn't even have a sign with surveillance material.
Not a site worth to be visited."

"Closed on the time we went but nice to see around"
