"Was looking for a short, easy hike to one of the Meteora monasteries and landed on the now closed, but worth seeing, Yappanati, as it is built ON THE SIDE of a cliff vs on top. Directions were sketchy, so I hope these help. Using Google maps, head toward Nicholas monastery. You can park near the turnoff or drive almost the whole way to the lookout. We hiked in and walked the road back. The yellow path on Google maps takes you EXACTLY to monastery, Outlook, statue and cross, before turning back. The path has occasional RED MTB signage for a Meteora Trail Race that goes thru. Hike in approx 45min, walk out on road, 30min.
Amazing views, including, if you are lucky, seeing rock climbers scale the sides nearby."

"Definitely go. Just like someone else said you can get there from the parking lot of the Grand Meteoron monastery by following the paths you see in satellite photos. You cannot enter the monastery (there are stairs but you reach a locked door), but you can view it from below and from a viewing platform with a statue and flagpole. I highly recommend going to the viewing platform."

"Coming from the great Meteora monastery it's just nice to escape the crowds and the views from behind the boulders is just awesome as well. It takes about 20 minutes to get there just follow the path starting above the parking lot. Look at the satellite mode of maps you really can't miss it."
