What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Alimos Marina is primarily recognized as a major hub for yachting and sailing, serving as a crucial departure point for voyages. Visitors appreciate its extensive facilities and the vibrant maritime atmosphere. However, it's important to note that it's a functional port rather than a typical tourist attraction, with amenities geared towards boaters.
"Beautiful and spacious marina, very well organized and easy to navigate. Quiet at night, which made for a peaceful stay. Great spot to start a sailing trip from Athens!"

"It’s a very beautiful port, what I like most of all is that there are many paths to walk. You can take nice pics there. It’s calm and peaceful there, I like to come and enjoy this port beauty."
Anastasiya Puchkouskaya
"Alimos Marina is one of the largest marinas in the Athens area and serves primarily as a base for yacht charters. Overall, the marina is spacious, clean, and relatively well-organized, making it convenient for both charter companies and visitors preparing for their sailing trips. If you’re picking up or dropping off a yacht, it serves its basic function well.
However, there are some important things to note. While there is one restaurant inside the marina, it is quite expensive, clearly capitalizing on its location as the only dining option within the premises. Outside the marina, there are more restaurants and shops, but the walking access to them isn’t ideal. In order to reach them, you’ll have to walk part of the way on the road, which can feel a bit unsafe and uncomfortable, especially with luggage or in hot weather.
The biggest downside of Alimos Marina is the condition of the facilities. The showers and toilets are probably the least maintained I’ve come across in all the marinas I’ve visited. The water in the showers is cold , not just lukewarm, but truly cold, and there’s no toilet paper in the restrooms. The whole setup feels outdated, like stepping back into the 1980s, which is disappointing for such a busy and frequently used marina.
In summary, Alimos Marina does the job when it comes to logistics, but don’t expect comfort or modern amenities. It’s fine for a quick turnaround before or after your charter, but far from luxurious."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
If you're chartering a yacht, discuss child-friendly safety measures with your charter company. Many boats are equipped with safety nets and life jackets suitable for younger passengers. The proximity to the coast also means easy access to beaches and other family-oriented activities in the surrounding areas like Glyfada.
💰 Budget Travelers
While yacht charters can be a significant expense, consider shorter trips or sharing costs with a group. Exploring the marina on foot and enjoying the views is a free activity. Look for local tavernas in the neighborhoods surrounding the marina for more affordable dining options than those directly within the yacht club areas.
⛵ Sailing Enthusiasts
Take advantage of the excellent provisioning options nearby to ensure a well-stocked vessel. Don't hesitate to ask your charter company for local advice on sailing routes, weather conditions, and any specific marina regulations. The proximity to the Saronic Islands makes it an ideal starting point for exploring charming coastal towns and beautiful bays.
