Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Füchtingshof for its unique charm, historic architecture, and tranquil atmosphere, describing it as a hidden gem that feels like another world. However, some find the limited opening hours inconvenient, and it's important to remember it's a residential area requiring respectful behavior.

"Another of the most popular courtyards in Lübeck, this one is also the largest sponsored courtyard from 1640 . It was donated by Lübeck merchant and councillor Johann Füchting to look after the widows of merchants and sailors “for the benefit and best interests of the poor”."

"ONLY WOMEN AND THE MOVIE "NOSFERATU".

This beautiful place is considered one of the largest foundation courtyards in Lübeck. Since 1639 it has served as a residence for the widows of boatmen and merchants, therefore, from what an inhabitant of that enclosure explained to me, those who live there are only women. The woman, very polite and smiling, by the way, gave my husband and me a little tour and we were able to see the most hidden and spectacular places in the patio. In other words, the backyard is bigger than people imagine.

Hours are not flexible. My husband and I were extremely lucky as we were unaware of the limited hours. Luckily, we got there before noon, which is when they close. The backyard is not always open, so you have to get good information at the tourist office.

On the other hand, this place served as the setting for a small shot of the German horror film, NOSFERATU. This film was made in the year 1922, therefore, as I am a faithful lover of this genre of cinema, I wanted to travel to Wismar in 2022 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this production.

Annex photo of me (2022) and a short video of the film (1922)."
