What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Burg Kronberg is appreciated for its stunning panoramic views from the tower and its beautifully maintained Prince's Garden. While the interior is noted as being sparse, the historical insights from guided tours and the authentic atmosphere make it a worthwhile visit for history enthusiasts. Some visitors find the signage to the castle could be improved.
"A charming medieval castle with a very authentic atmosphere. There isn’t much to see inside, but the view from the tower over Groß Feldberg and the town panorama is priceless. The facilities are very clean (especially the restrooms), and the historical descriptions are well done. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Getting there can be a bit tricky as the castle is not very well signposted in town, but once you arrive, it’s worth the effort. I wouldn’t say it’s a family attraction unless your kids are really into medieval history, but for history lovers it’s a gem."

"Not that magnificent but surely beautiful, Kronberg castle.
The Prince Garden turns out to be the most memorable spot of the entire castle. It has the view of the entire Kronberg town, and also the entire garden was well designed and maintained.
Other than that, the castle itself was empty, not much of history elements was preserved."

"The castle dates back to 1220 and features 120 steps up the tower for amazing photos. There’s a small museum inside and gallery upstairs, can take elevator. Guided tours are offered, but make sure it will be in English, we had guide explain in both German and English, because large part of people understood only English.
Interesting fact I learned in tour:
The military salute comes from medieval knights lifting their helmet visors with the right hand to show their faces and prove they were unarmed, evolving into the modern gesture of raising the hand to the head as a sign of respect."
