"Very disappointed and angry at the way i was treated on my visit to the synagogue.I am Israeli originally from the UK and i paid a one day visit ( from Prague where i was staying) to Dresden on a very wet Thursday ( 24th November 2022 ). After passing the police car outside on the street and entering the courtyard through the open gate i was greeted by an old grumpy man who pointed to a sign saying all visits have to be made with a guide. and ushered me away . I was quite prepared to show him my Israeli passport and my membership card with photo of the Israeli dental association. He wasnt interested and couldnt even speak a word of English. I managed to take a photo of the outside of the synagogue before being shown the way out. Never in my travels throughout Europe have i been treated in this way at an impromptu synagogue visit. This includes the synagogues in Rome, Florence, Vienna, Sofia, Paris, BERLIN !, and of course Prague. This is taking paranoia to a new level and a lack of common courtesy. I always leave a respectable donation at each synagogue i visit and the Dresden synagogue will not be receiving that of course. Someone there needs a course in public relations and good manners towards foreign visitors especially fellow Jews."
