Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Cité Internationale de la Langue Française, praising its impressive concept, stunning restoration, and captivating interactive exhibits. The château's historical significance and its engaging approach to language education are major highlights. Some minor points of feedback include the bookshop size and the no-re-entry policy for the cafe.

"A splendid monument with an impressive and well-executed concept. The renovation work was top-notch, breathing new life into the space while preserving its character.

The main hall’s décor was truly stunning—thoughtfully designed and visually captivating.

The café offered a pleasant atmosphere, and the food met expectations—simple and just right.

My only minor critique is that the bookshop felt a bit too small for the overall scale and ambition of the place, though that’s just a personal observation."

"I have been here more than a year ago and sometimes I am still thinking about this museum. Amazingly made. With the temporary exhibition and the main exhibition I did spent around 5 hours in here, without even finishing all, just because it was so good and I enjoyed every room to the fullest.
Big recommendation for everyone who enjoys languages. Take your time :)"

Kathi Roesch

"This museum came into existence fairly recently (2023). However the château that hosts this museum exists from the 16th century; started by François 1er and designed by some of the same architects that designed the Louvre and some parts of Versailles.
If you're passionate about all aspects of the french language including but not limited to art, history, geography, phonetics, vocabulary, slang, this museum is definitely the place for that kind of immersion. Their website says 2 hours is the average required time but I'd say plan for at least 4 hours if you're the researcher, overthinker type that likes to dive deeper into silly things such as why this painting(cf photo) is titled LHOOQ. Plenty of fun activities to do too.

We took a group of about 15-16 students of ours to an excursion here. Also I just realized how ironic it is that I write this review in English but I guess it's more important that more french learners understand why they should visit; if I wrote it in french, it won't likely reach the beginners.

It's possible to couple this with other nearby Châteaux (Pierrefonds for example) and a picnic in the nature."
