What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally praise the Tovière Gondola for its spectacular panoramic views and its utility as access to both summer hiking and winter skiing. While many have positive experiences, some note issues with queue management and staff demeanor at the base station. The ride itself is often highlighted as a memorable part of the Val Thorens visit, especially for families.
"Superb experience during our stay in the mountains in summer in Tignes, we took the cable car with the eggs, my 4 year old son loved it, we took a little walk at the top and then we went back down. Small dedication to Francky who was playing with his contact pole, a cable car employee who was very very nice, a little wink to him, keep it up, great."
Arthur BEGOU
"Access to the gondola is unfairly managed. The person checking passes allows cyclists to pass first, not pedestrians and cyclists in order of arrival. When we point this out, she retaliates by saying, "Oh, you'll have to wait even longer."
I also witnessed a near-accident when the same person let someone with children into the gondola and then demanded they leave immediately, making the family exit after the signposts and just before the doors closed.
But I'm giving it 4 stars because I ultimately really liked Tignes."

"Very good as 10-seater cable cars with magnificent 360-degree views on arrival (first photo, old 10-seater cable car and second photo the new 10-seater cable car 🐉"

Summer Mountain Experience
One visitor shared a particularly heartwarming experience involving a gondola employee named Francky, who was playing with his contact pole and was noted for his exceptional friendliness. This highlights the potential for positive interactions with staff, even though other reviews mention less pleasant encounters. The gondola itself is described as a 10-seater cable car, offering magnificent 360-degree views, with mentions of both older and newer models.
Winter Ski and Snowboard Access
Early mornings are often the best time to ride the gondola to make the most of fresh snow conditions and avoid the busiest periods. While the gondola itself is a modern and efficient way to get up the mountain, be prepared for potential queues, especially during peak holiday weeks. Some travelers have noted that the management of queues can be inconsistent, with cyclists sometimes being prioritized over pedestrians, leading to frustration. Having your lift pass ready and understanding the boarding procedures can help streamline your experience.
