Reviews Summary

Visitors appreciate the museum's authentic artifacts and the passionate staff, offering a genuine connection to prehistoric life. While some find the exhibits dated and note the lack of air conditioning, the historical significance and scenic location are consistently praised. A new museum is under construction, promising a modern experience in the future.

"I can understand some comments saying the museum feels a bit old-fashioned, but it truly holds a wealth of information!
you can dive as deep as you wish!

What’s remarkable is that the items on display are authentic materials directly excavated from the cave. You’re standing in front of real remains of animals that lived thousands of years ago a rare and powerful experience.

I genuinely enjoyed the visit.

On top of that, the staff is very friendly, and the library offers a rich collection of books about prehistoric caves in France a treasure for anyone curious to learn more.

PS: The drive to the museum takes you through a stunning valley surrounded by hills and it suddenly becomes clear why prehistoric humans chose to settle here. The view over the valley and its wildlife is beautiful, and the high cliffs offered them both safety and shelter. A unique setting that adds meaning to the whole experience."

"It was OK. Unless you know about this period of history, you won't necessarily get much out of the visit. It is interesting to see the various displays, skulls, stones, weapons, etc..
Price was reasonable, 8 Euros for adults and 4 for kids.
No AC in the building...it was a little bit hot🥵"

"Look, the place isn't modern at all. They know that too. A new museum is being built right now and it will be ready in 2030. However, this place has something that many more up-to-date musea miss sometimes: passion.
When we were here today, we stumbled into a guided tour that lasted for three hours and we didn't get bored at all. On the contrary, as an archaeologist and art history teacher it was a great refresher with sublime add-ons. For my wife it was a great excursion.
We highly recommend this place, for the knowledge and passion of the people who work there.
Curious about the new project. Count us in as visitors."
