What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests are drawn to the unique and historic experience of sleeping in troglodyte cave dwellings, often praising the charming decor and the hosts' passion. However, some visitors have encountered issues with strict check-in times, limited amenities like Wi-Fi, and a perceived lack of generosity in breakfast offerings, leading to mixed feelings about value.
"we stayed at this idyllic place on 3rd april.
my brother and I had a really great time starting from the welcome of the very kind owner.
he explained everything to us in detail, he transmitted all the passion in his work.
we stayed in the "wood cabin" and it's a brilliant place because it is themed with nature and I absolutely fell in love with it, needless to say that if I were to go back to those parts in France I would definitely go back. Very comfortable bed and overall attention to detail throughout the decor both in the cabin and in the garden outside which I found literally fabulous.
another more than positive thing was the lady in the morning who delighted us with a fantastic breakfast and was very helpful to us regarding the various information for the castles of the loire that we had to visit.
nothing else to say except that I absolutely recommend this place!!!"

"Lovely B&B, breakfast was delicious with locally made produce - we really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place. The hosts were polite and helped us with local restaurant booking (recommend you follow their advice - the place they suggested was really nice, the place we walked into ourselves not so much) - our only complaint was that there was no milk provided in the room to make a cup of coffee, although they did give us some when asked. Would definitely stay again. Also the hosts speak good English."

"I have stayed in many many air b and b's and this is not at the top of my list. The cave is interesting and funky and that is what we wanted. The issue is more this:
host: If there is anything at all you need, please don't hesitate to ask.
me: Do you have internet?
Host: No. It is impossible with thick walls. You will have to go to the tourist office in the next village in the morning.
* A person wonders why they can't have it outside as they obviously do all on the internet.
But it continues:
Host: If there is anything at all you need, please don't hesitate to ask.
Me: Can I maybe put a couple of yogurts in the refrigerator so they don't spoil?
Host: Oh no. Our refrigerator is too small. But please don't hesitate to ask if you need anything.
Me: Can I maybe get a drain plug?
Host: Oh no. We have lost so many drain plugs. Our guests steal them so we don't provide them. But if you need anything, please don't hesitate to ask.
And so it went. The place is cool and full of history. The host is multilingual and nice but there is a sense of scarcity. Breakfasts are fine but not abundant (I was all over France and this was the least offered of anywhere I stayed yet billed as a B and B!) and they will ONLY let you in between 5:30 and 7:30. We hung around and saw other people do this too. I host people too and being a bit inconvenienced is part of the job. There is no lobby and you need to get in for breakfast and out and no lingering. It just feels, well, skimpy. I have to say I was not very nice by the time we left and had to pay cash, not credit card. That was annoying but my fault for not noting this policy. It was just that I felt at that point kind of ripped off. The bathroom could use a curtain to provide privacy in a shared room. The linens and all furnishings are slightly dated IKEA and I just was pretty bummed to end our trip here when I thought it would be so cool. The hostess is very good with language and the history of the region and that was nice. She suggested a restaurant I appreciated that though when we found it it was so beyond our budget as to not even be worth consideration but that is not her fault. So it is fine and very interesting to sleep in an ancient cave but I would stick to one night."

This blend of ancient architecture and thoughtful interior design makes for a memorable stay.
It's important for visitors to understand that the very nature of these dwellings can impact amenities.
