Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently rave about the Namosi Highlands as a top-tier authentic Fijian experience, highlighting the incredible hospitality of local hosts and the stunning natural beauty of rainforests and rivers. While the journey can be an adventure with challenging roads, the immersive cultural encounters and delicious home-grown food make it a highly recommended destination for those seeking genuine connection.

"Lovely opportunity to get into a remote region of Fiji - lush forest and a gorgeous river. Danny is a terrific leader and the staff - Salote, Toma, Maria 💙💚🧡 are without fail helpful, very friendly and multi talented! They looked after us beautifully and we loved getting to know them and their families. Great music, dancing, food - thank you all so much. As with other reviewers, getting there was quite an adventure - but that's all part and parcel of the experience😉"

"Staying in Namosi was our #1 favourite experience in Fiji.

Danny, Tom and Charlotte and their family were the most amazing hosts, showing us around their amazing place. They took us on a hike, showed us how to build a bamboo raft, and cooked us the most amazing meals (mainly from their own gardens and the hills around the property). Playing volleyball and swimming in the river with their kids and the village kids was a lot of fun.

We were lucky enough to stay on a night on which the nearby settlement organised a party- which involved live music, lots of dancing and kava (we were the only non-Fijians)

If you're looking for an authentic experience in Fiji, love nature and food- this is the place for you.

The drive in is gorgeous. Although the road is mainly made of gravel and can be steep in some places, it's really fine (just make sure you've got a car that's a step up from a regular sedan). Facilities (bure and bathroom incl. shower) are beautiful and comfortable.

Could not recommend more!"

"A truly great place to visit if you want to experience authentic rural Fiji and the overwhelming hospitality and generosity of the Fijian people. The facilities are good but basic, and the activities very relaxed and friendly. Danny and his team will take good care of you and provide plenty of good, locally grown food. Just a word of caution regarding transportation: DO NOT trust Google Maps on this one! First of all, don’t expect mobile phone service once you leave the main road. We drove up from the Queen’s Rd (from the south) via Nabukavesi as suggested on the Eco Retreat home page. Google maps says 30 km / 52 min. I’m experienced in 4WD gravel-road driving, and we spent more than 1.5 hours from leaving the main road. The rental car (2WD Toyota Raize) struggled several places due to steep sections with loose gravel. There are no villages and virtually no houses along the way, so expect to be on your own if something goes wrong. I would not recommend trying this road in a low-clearance car. We drove out again towards the east via Nabulaluka Rd. Google Maps says 47 km / 1h19 m. That’s about right and a much easier drive along the valley with lots of villages. It’s also the bus route, so if you get stuck, there will be people not too far off."
