Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Cerro Verde National Park's breathtaking views, especially the sunsets above the clouds and the majestic volcanoes. The cooler climate and unique dining experiences are also highly praised. Some find the volcano hikes challenging but rewarding, though mandatory guide fees and early starts for hikes are noted.
"Cerro Verde National Park is a beautiful spot worth visiting if you're in El Salvador. There is a small entrance fee, but it's absolutely worth it for the incredible views of the surrounding volcanoes, especially Izalco and Santa Ana.
Because the park is located higher up, the weather is noticeably cooler, which is a nice break from the heat in other parts of the country. Be sure to bring a jacket or sweater!
The park has a great local vibe, with lots of food vendors offering typical Salvadoran snacks and meals, as well as souvenir stands where you can pick up handmade crafts and gifts.
Overall, Cerro Verde is a peaceful, scenic place to spend a few hours soaking in nature, snapping photos, and enjoying the fresh mountain air."

"Cerro Verde is a beautiful area with two volcano hikes available. We hiked Santa Ana volcano which was beautiful and sunny on the lower half and foggy and windy at the top. We weren't able to see into the volcano but we enjoyed the hike, just the same.
You need to hike the mountain with a guide which costs a bit of money. You also need to be there a few minutes before 9:00 to sign up and get assigned to a guide group.
We chose to pay $3 extra to camp in the parking lot. There are two 110 volt outlets available in the parking lot near the lamp posts and few other amenities. It was quiet after 8:00 or 9:00 p.m. and we slept well."
