What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mount Longhu is praised for its stunning Danxia landforms and the unique mystery of its hanging coffins, offering a deep dive into Taoist culture. Visitors appreciate the scenic beauty and historical significance, though some find the tourist infrastructure can be overwhelming with loud guides.
"We walked through the elgantly designed Arches with its signage Mount Longhu. At the entrance are statues fully inscribed in their dedication on Taoism.
Thereafter the buggy took us to the scenic site, where we watched their local River & Hanging Coffin Performances.
We went on the bamboo raft, cruise on the Luxi River, we see a on both side, a series of mountains with cliff holes .
These mountains are rock formation consists of reddish sandstone and conglomerates.
An intriguing attraction of Mount Longhu is their cliff tombs. Coffins are placed in caves, natural hallowed out tubes, or man made chiselled ledge or horizontal shafts. Some natural tubular pockets and small caves were formed after cracks split the rock mass. Subsequent ingress of water soaked and eroded the Calcareous conglomerates forming the tubular holds and caves. The Guyue placed their Ancestral Coffins into these holes in the cliff face. Their belief was that their departed ancestors shall be nearer to heaven above!!!
The whole scenic area is big with 220 square kilometer to walk through its geological Park. But with its amazing cliff tombs, gorgeous landform, and the birthplace of Taoism ,Mount Longhu is regarded as a sacred mountain of Taoism.
Indeed, a must visit to these three wonders of Mount Longhu if you are visiting Jiangxi !!!"

"one of many famous mountains in Jiangxi, this one is known for its origin of one denomination of taoism (龙虎山天师府) and its danxia landform (丹霞地貌, one of six sites in china with such landform recognized by UNESCO), and the hanging coffin (悬棺)
so it is not much say climbing high altitude and look down, it is more like sitting on the raft and listen to stories told by scullers
also this is a kind of religiously and culturally attractive site. if you are a foreign visitor it is totally ok, not much taboo here just be respectful and polite is enough (kind of different from other religious sites in other parts of the world)
it is also the place where the story of Outlaws of the Marsh (水浒传,四大名著之一,与西游记并列)starts
also it is quite an experience to live in the mountains haha in the morning you will probably find yourself in a mistful and mysterious world, quite stunning
this is a World Natural Heritage, AAAAA tourist attraction in China, so alr developed and internationalized, so you can expect English signs and guides inside"
