What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Tianjin Radio and TV Tower for its spectacular panoramic views, especially at night. However, many find the experience overpriced, particularly the revolving cafe and the quality of the guides. The cat cafe's setup also garners mixed reactions.
"It costs ¥50 to visit the observation deck and extra ¥50 to go up some spiral stairs to a revolving cat themed cafe area. This is probably not worth the extra money, although the windows up there are cleaner than the official observation deck. What’s up with that?
There are cats in a large(ish) glass area but it’s closed off and you have to pay to play as it were. It’s a bit weird I guess. As for the food and coffee…forget about it. This is the eighth highest tower in the world, with comparable prices, what are they even thinking. I saw one guy drinking a ten dollar coffee and nobody else going near the cafe service area.
All up, I wouldn’t say 天津广播电视塔 is worth it but I wouldn’t say it’s not worth it either unless we’re talking the cafe."

"Visited on 28 Nov 2024 a weekday in cold season when tourists were only a few but the experience was lousy. 1st of all, there are 2 types of tickets, RMB50 to the viewing gallery and RMB100 to the revolving top which is merely 5 meter more with the same view. So do not need to pay 50% extra. 2ndly was the guides 讲解员 for both storeys, might as well put a tape recording because they were distant, acted atas and rude. For example the lady who was in the lift with me to the viewing gallery was so reluctant to be my guide because she had to be separated with her other two colleagues in a small talk and rushed in after me. She used her phone to check on herself then suddenly put her phone in her pocket and do the introductory part for the tower like a robot. Yes, like a robot and looked at me like a country bumpkin and said everything except introducing herself. The 2nd guide at the revolving tower lagi best, showing some eye tricks installations and distantly said the formality "anything you need please look for me" again without introducing herself so how would i know her name if i were to look for her? She also treated me like a country bumpkin and looked at me up and down. I guess she felt better this way and hope that she will not do this to her fellow countrymen who make honest living and pay good money to visit. The cafe food and drinks were expensive but still affordable in Singapore standard. However, i didn't want to support it because they caged up few handsome cats in a beautiful cell at the resolving tower without letting them interacting with human. The guide kept saying that they will have knock off time yet without telling me when will that be. This is animal cruelly because the cats will feel stressful at high ground with changing view every minute. There was only one lady at the entrance who behaved like a normal human and talked normally. So overall experience sucked, don't need to pay 50% for a few meter more and don't support these self entitled robotic guides."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider visiting during the day when visibility is best for spotting details. Weekdays might offer a less crowded experience, making it easier for children to navigate. While the tower itself is the main attraction, nearby areas like Power Town Mall could offer additional entertainment options for families.
📸 Photography Enthusiasts
Be mindful of window cleanliness, as some visitors have noted that the main observation deck windows may require a quick wipe for optimal clarity. If possible, bring a tripod for evening shots to achieve longer exposures and capture the city's glow. The revolving top offers a slightly different vantage point, but assess if the added cost is justified for your photographic goals.
✈️ Day-Trippers from Beijing
To maximize your day, consider visiting the tower in the late afternoon or early evening to see both daylight and nighttime views. Pair this with a brief exploration of a nearby historic concession area for a taste of Tianjin's unique charm before heading back to Beijing.

The Tianjin Radio and TV Tower Experience: What to Expect
Visitor feedback on the tower experience is mixed. While the views are consistently praised, particularly the evening cityscape, some aspects have drawn criticism. The guides have been described as robotic and distant, and the revolving cafe, though novel, is considered overpriced by many. The presence of cats in a confined space has also raised concerns about animal welfare among some visitors.
Despite these criticisms, the tower remains a popular spot for those wanting to grasp the scale of Tianjin. It's recommended to visit on a clear day for the best visual experience. If you're on a tight schedule, consider if the extra cost for the revolving top is truly necessary, as the main observation deck offers a substantial view.
