One of my favorite things to do when visiting a National Park for the first time is to ask a park ranger what their favorite overlook and/or scenic spot is. Shenandoah National Park is also known for their Blackberry Ice Cream Pie which is the main reason I rode Skyline Drive in the first place, so I knew I had to get some tips on what else to have with it for dinner! 🍰 Luckily I also found out th...

I wanted to visit 123 year old Sheshan observatory in Shanghai for as long as I remember. Little did I know that Ivan would enjoy it so much without even one instance of whining. He liked the museum part more than I did at his age. Hopping from room to room looking at old astronomical instruments. The combination of national forest park and observatory was wonderful. Will go again.

Reviews Summary

Sheshan National Forest Park is praised for its accessibility and natural beauty, offering a pleasant escape with its bamboo forests and hiking trails. Visitors appreciate the blend of nature with historical sites like the observatory and basilica, making it a good family outing. However, some find the 'mountain' to be more of a hill, and occasional construction or closed attractions can detract from the experience.

"While this national forest park is easily accessible via the Shanghai Metro and a connecting bus, it's ultimately only an average destination."

Mae Lee

"Clean, not too crowded, big nice park."

Maksymilian Basiura

"Like many said, it is more of a hill than a mountain, and not very high, but that's what makes it a fun place to visit with children.

There are several ways up, mainly a winding road and path, or the stairs. The stairs are steep.

It's is a pleasant drive and there is a lot of parking available in the Public lot nearby. I suggest phoning or texting ahead; when we were there the buildings were closed and the astronomy museum was closed. Only a small gift shop was open. Much of the grounds and the view were also blocked due to construction."
