Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Harbin's Ice and Snow World as a world-class festival, marveling at the stunning ice sculptures, especially when illuminated at night. The city's unique Russian architectural influence and winter charm are also highlights. However, the extreme cold is a significant challenge, requiring extensive preparation and potentially impacting electronics.

"When I moved to China this was the only thing I knew I definitely wanted to see and I was not disappointed. It's truly a world class festival and even 10 years ago it was run very efficiently for tourists with some people who could speak English. Definitely see the ice sculptures at night and the snow during the day. If you're traveling solo I suggest staying in a hostel, they organize rides and you'll have people to walk around with (many hostels have private rooms). There are gift shops, a cafeteria with several stalls, and a park with permanent concrete statues of past winners.

It's EXTREMELY COLD, made winter in Minneapolis feel mild. My camera kept shutting off and I could only get a few pics at a time before I needed to warm it up again. Wear layers and boots intended for harsh winter conditions or you'll be miserable. You really cannot wear too many layers.

Harbin is also an interesting city worth exploring for at least a day. Being so close to the Russian border there's a lot of influence in the architecture and population of the city."

"We could not make it for the outdoor ice n snow exhibition which ended in Mar 2025. But we were fortunate to have made a trip to this indoor ice exhibit centre....it was surely a good outing and we enjoyed all the ice sculptures there. Staff at the site were very helpful."

"A beautiful place make of snow, this is now a world class event driving droves to Harbin . We went on 22nd Feb , just so lucky to get in before it closed 2 days later. Please remember to keep your phone in the pocket and keep it warm. Hand phone batteries drains very fast in that cold ."
